Tech Stop

Aviation

Definition

A stop made by an aircraft for operational reasons — typically to refuel — without any commercial activity (no passenger boarding or cargo loading/unloading). In OBC and Air Charter operations, a tech stop may be required for long-haul routes that exceed the aircraft's range. Tech stops add 1-2 hours to total transit time but enable direct charter flights to destinations beyond non-stop range.
