Shipping Name
Aviation CodesDefinition
The official technical name assigned to a dangerous good in the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations and the UN Model Regulations. The Proper Shipping Name must appear on the outer packaging, the dangerous goods declaration, and the air waybill. It must exactly match the name listed in the DGR — colloquial or trade names are not acceptable. Example: "Lithium ion batteries packed with equipment" (not "Li-ion batteries with laptop"). Correct PSN classification is critical for OBC/NFO shipments containing batteries, chemicals, or other DG.
