An insulated shipping container that has undergone formal thermal qualification testing to demonstrate its ability to maintain the required temperature range for a specified duration under defined ambient conditions. Validation involves mapping studies with multiple temperature probes, worst-case scenario testing (e.g., 48-hour hold at 35°C ambient), and documented evidence that the container-PCM combination maintains the product temperature profile. Only validated containers may be used for GDP-compliant pharmaceutical OBC shipments.

Use a sturdy outer box or case with internal cushioning that prevents movement during transit. For OBC shipments, remember the courier must be able to hand-carry the package through airports, so a practical size and secure closure matter.
