Definition

A trade association representing approximately 320 airlines comprising 83% of global air traffic. IATA sets standards for airline operations, safety, ticketing, and — critically for logistics — dangerous goods regulations (IATA DGR), live animal regulations (LAR), and air waybill standards. IATA also assigns unique airline numeric codes (the first 3 digits of an AWB number) and airport city codes. FlashGL's IATA accreditation as a cargo agent enables direct airline booking and AWB issuance.
