Bonded Warehouse
Customs & TradeDefinition
A secured facility authorized by customs authorities to store imported goods before duties are paid. Goods can remain in a bonded warehouse for extended periods (typically up to 5 years) without duty payment. This is useful when the final destination or duty treatment is uncertain. In time-critical logistics, bonded warehouses near airports provide staging points for OBC shipments awaiting customs clearance or final delivery scheduling. Goods withdrawn for re-export from a bonded warehouse incur no duty.
