Ex Works

Incoterms

Definition

An Incoterm (2020) where the seller makes the goods available at their premises or another named place (factory, warehouse). The buyer bears all costs and risks from that point onward — including pickup, transport, export/import clearance, and delivery. EXW represents the minimum obligation for the seller. In time-critical logistics, EXW is rarely used because the shipper typically needs to coordinate the pickup as part of the end-to-end service. However, it may apply when a courier is sent to collect goods directly from a supplier's facility.
