Packing List

Customs & Trade

Definition

A detailed shipping document that itemizes the contents of each package in a shipment — including quantities, dimensions, weights, and package markings. Unlike the commercial invoice, the packing list does not include prices. Customs authorities use the packing list to verify that the shipment matches the commercial invoice and to conduct physical inspections. In OBC logistics, the packing list also serves as a chain-of-custody checklist: the courier confirms the contents at pickup and the recipient verifies at delivery.
